I think in a previous life I must have been a worm. I seem to respond best to flowers when I’m at eye level or below them. Glacier Lilies are among the
first flowers to bloom in the high country and grow in wet locations. Their shapes and colors contrast the bolder tobacco-like “skunk cabbage” that
grows in the same environment and quickly overshadows the tiny Glacier Lilies. They are best photographed on overcast days or in shade. They hate
wind and direct sun makes their petals curl up.

The Marsh Marigolds are in bloom in the Crested Butte area. We’ve had a lot of rain the past couple of weeks, and the place is lush and green with flowers popping up everywhere. Should be a great summer for wildflower photography!

With good snowpack from last winter, and the past week's soaking rains, we should be primed for an amazing wildflower season!
